Services & Capabilities
This is my dog Ace in the car, after being left in Avets waiting room for almost 2 hours without being triaged, or so much as looked at. I came at the suggestion of my Vet, Wednesday morning, after telling her he was vomiting pools of blood. I entered the building, after the message stated when I called, to come right in if it was an emergency. They seemed annoyed that I hadn't pre-registered on-line. We got so disgusted, and afraid, that we asked them to take him off the list, and would be going somewhere, that actually would look at him. We traveled all the way across town, to PVSEC, where he was assessed in critical condition. His blood work-up, and ultrasound revealed how bad he was, and that even a blood transfusion would probably not be enough to help him. He was suffering, and the decision was made to put him to sleep and end his pain. I can't say enough about the care we received there. They were the most amazing and sensitive staff I've ever seen. While driving home that evening, in mourning, I received a text from Avets, informing me that after review, they did not feel he met the standards of an emergency, to look into other vets, monitor him, and read their website for what was an emergency. I work at an Urgent care, for humans, and am aware of emergency symptoms, and vomiting pools of blood, is definitely one. The timing, and content of that text was cruel, mean spirited, and served no purpose, accept to somehow excuse their behavior. The 2 women at the front desk were the only representatives of that establishment I had any contact with. They were insensitive, and disinterested in my, or Aces pain. I hope nobody ever has to spend some of the last moments of their sick and beloved pet's life in that situation. I will NEVER forget that cruel and painful experience. The worst people I've ever had the misfortune to have been in contact with.
